Corporate Social Responsibility – HB Cares
HelmsBriscoe’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) philosophy is simple – to treat others the way we wish to be treated. HelmsBriscoe has long lived by the mantra, “doing well by doing good.” This philosophy is demonstrated through HB’s core values and involvement in the local community. HB is able to serve its Clients in a seamless manner, while giving back to the communities in which it operates.
Associates join HelmsBriscoe for many reasons. One of those reasons is flexibility. The flexibility that comes with the HelmsBriscoe model enables Associates to not only focus on serving their Clients, but also encourages the development of a balanced lifestyle.
To many Associates, a balanced life means finding the time and energy to give something back. This may be taking care of an ailing family member, or spending time with an elderly parent. It could be coaching a little league team, or serving as a Girl Scout troop leader. Oftentimes, giving back is in the form of engagement in the local community.
At the heart of the HelmsBriscoe organization is the belief that corporate success is more than just financial gain. As a result, over the last 20 years, HelmsBriscoe has made significant contributions to a host of charitable causes, giving back to communities and changing the lives of those in need.
The culture of giving back is more than just a philosophy at HelmsBriscoe. Through the HB Cares initiative, Associates in local communities are encouraged and supported in their efforts of volunteerism and charitable contributions. More specifically, Associates track and report their volunteer hours collectively. To date, it is estimated that HelmsBriscoe Associates have donated more than 16,000 hours in volunteer efforts to causes worldwide.
Since HelmsBriscoe’s inception in 1992, our company has been engaged in numerous activities and organizations that support and improve the community at large. HelmsBriscoe Associates, along with their Clients and our Hotel and Destination Partners, participate in a variety of volunteer efforts each year benefiting hundreds or causes throughout the globe. This commitment to giving back is also reflected in the HelmsBriscoe corporate office through activities such as food drives for Arizona food banks, and supply collections for domestic violence and homeless shelters.
The Helms Family Foundation was established in 2005. In the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina, the Foundation purchased a home and completely furnished it for a family of seven that was being relocated from New Orleans. In 2009, the Foundation committed funds to Habitat for Humanity to build a home each year in the Phoenix/Scottsdale area. HB’s involvement with Habitat for Humanity in 2014 will mark the sixth HelmsBriscoe-sponsored home in Arizona. HelmsBriscoe Associates, Clients, and industry partners often join in these local efforts. We are fortunate so many of our great industry partners assist when asked.
Each year at the HelmsBriscoe Annual Business Conference (ABC), a charitable cause is selected to receive a donation from the Helms Foundation. The Foundation board traditionally selects a charity based in the city where the annual ABC is hosted. Through this annual contribution, the Helms Foundation has contributed to a wide variety of worthy causes. Past recipients include:
- 2014 – Texas Scottish Rite Hospital for Children- Dallas, TX
- 2013 – Give Kids the World- Orlando, FL
- 2012 – The Children’s Cabinet- Reno, NV
- 2011 – Homestretch – Washington, D.C.
